## About

Software engineer with 7+ years of experience building enterprise web applications in healthcare and nonprofit tech. Currently building agentic AI tools and data services at Bloomerang. Background in construction management before transitioning to software — which left me with a permanent bias toward systems that hold up under real-world constraints.

## Experience

### Bloomerang — Senior Software Engineer
**2023–Present** · Remote

I joined Bloomerang to work on integrations for a donor management platform used by thousands of nonprofits. For my first two and a half years, I built and maintained third-party integrations and API infrastructure — designing workflows that connected the platform to external CRM and payment systems. This was the kind of work where reliability and clean contracts mattered more than speed, since nonprofits depend on these integrations for their fundraising operations.

More recently, my team's focus shifted to AI and data services. I now build agentic AI tools on the Claude API as part of the team that owns Bloomerang's AI and data services direction. The work involves designing tool architectures that let AI agents interact with our platform reliably — a different kind of engineering problem than traditional integrations, but one where the integration experience turns out to be directly useful.

Technologies: C#, .NET, TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, Claude API, AWS, microservice architecture.

### Experian Health — Software Engineer II
**2019–2023** · Nashville, TN

I spent four years building and scaling the online patient scheduling platform that powers self-service appointment access for some of the largest health networks in the US — hospitals, health plans, and physician groups. This was my first engineering role after Nashville Software School, and the scope grew significantly over my time there.

Early on, the work was heads-down feature development — building configurable scheduling features end-to-end, often integrating with external EMR APIs where the contracts were inconsistent and the failure modes were creative. Over time I took on more architectural responsibility, including implementing Identity Server as an OAuth 2.0 microservice to support configurable SSO solutions across SAML and OpenID Connect protocols. I also partnered with product to shape the roadmap and estimate effort for new features, and mentored junior developers joining the team.

Healthcare scheduling is a domain where getting things wrong has real consequences for real people trying to access care. That shaped how I think about building software — reliability first, then speed.

Technologies: C#, ASP.NET Core, React, Redux, Entity Framework, SQL Server, Azure.

### TRC Worldwide Engineering — Project Manager
**2010–2019** · Nashville, TN

Before software, I spent nine years managing structural steel detailing and connection design projects. The work ranged from small projects of 30 tons to large-scale efforts of 13,000 tons of structural steel across the US. I was the sole point of contact between customers and our engineering teams — responsible for delivery schedules, budgets, and making sure the work met AISC code of standard practice.

Toward the end of my time at TRC, I started writing Python scripts integrated with SDS/2 parametric modeling tools to automate parts of the project modeling process. That was the first signal that I was more interested in building the tools than managing the projects, and it eventually led me to Nashville Software School and a career change.

Technologies: Python, SDS/2.
